Overview
Dublin is the Capital City of the Republic of Ireland, located on the Eastern seaboard of the country. With an urban-area population of over a million people, the city and county are home to a quarter of the entire population of the Republic of Ireland. Originally founded as a Viking settlement, it evolved into the Kingdom of Dublin and became the island's primary city following a Norman invasion. The city enjoys a maritime temperate climate characterised by mild Winters and cool Summers, and is the cultural, financial and commercial hub of the island of Ireland. The city is home to several large third level institutions, including Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and Dublin City University.

Getting Here
Dublin is easily accessible by air for international passengers, with a vast array of low-fare scheduled flights to destinations across Europe, coupled with several long-haul flights to North America and the Middle East. Ferry services to the U.K also exist. Once you arrive in Dublin, you can avail of a number of transport options to negotiate your way around the city. These include tram, bus and taxi.
